A Unique Date Night

There’s two days until Valentine’s Day. Is panic setting in? Do you need some creative ideas? Whether you’re spending the day with a loved one, friends, or having a “treat yourself” day, members of the Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce have you covered! Try some of these “Chamber approved” unique and affordable ideas.

Get out and Get Moving

It’s the time of year where cabin fever is setting in! If the weather permits, get out and do something!

5 Wits Buffalo is a live-action, immersive adventure experience within a realistic, hands-on setting. We've done it, and it's awesome. Nestled, within the Walden Galleria Mall, they'll be plenty to do before or after.

Hang out in the Galleria and visit, RPM Raceway. A great way to satisfy your need for speed! This indoor go-kart track is a favorite among chamber board and staff members.

Stop by the Cheektowaga Public Library! Reading for pleasure doesn't always make the top of our to-do list. Grab a friend or a significant other and head to the library! Stroll through the aisles and talk about your favorite books. Then, pick out books for each other to read, or grab the same book, and head home with some take-out for a relaxing night-in.

Spread the Love

The holidays have passed and giving and donating isn't always on our minds. Here are some ways to spread the love in the community.

Schedule an appointment to donate blood to the American Red Cross together. Maybe it's not a typical evening out, but you'll feel great doing it, especially with someone you love.

Sign up to be volunteers for the Resurrection Life Food Pantry. Another great community organization that can always use help. Just like donating blood, volunteering with someone you're close to is a great, shared experience. Feeling extra generous? Use the money you would have spent on a night out, and stop by a grocery store to buy canned goods together to donate to the food pantry!

Looking to do some early spring cleaning? Pick up a bottle of champagne and get working! Go through your closest and pick out some old clothes to donate to Goodwill. A general rule of thumb? If you haven't worn it in a year, you aren't going to! You can even make a game out of it: the person who donates the most gets to pick dinner, and the one who donates the least has to pay!

Sweet Treats

Maybe the day is just too busy to celebrate. You always have time for a quick sweet-treat with a loved one to unwind and show your appreciation.

Mazurek's is a great spot for unique and delicious baked goods. Stop in and grab some donuts or pastries for an after-dinner treat.

It's never too cold for ice cream! Anderson's is a great spot for ice cream, and there's something there that everyone loves.

It's never a good idea to go to the Sweetworks store when you're hungry! Step into this chocolate heaven to find unique and delicious treats.

Excelling at Chamber Networking Events

Networking can sometimes leave a bad taste in your mouth. Even the most extroverted of professionals have settings that they just aren't comfortable with. Walking up to someone and introducing yourself out of the blue can cause some unwanted stress. Getting the most out of your Time on the Links

As the weather warms up, you might get an invitation or two to spend a day networking on the golf course! This may intimidate some, but it doesn't have to. It's not always about your skill level, but building relationships and making connections. Below are some tips and hints to get the most out of your day on the links and come out on top. 1. Networking on the golf course is about getting to know people, not selling your business or product. Instead, build relationships! Learn the stories about the businesses and how the people involved got to where they are. Chances are, you'll find something you have in common that you can use as a talking point later on to stick in their memory. Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce Chair Elect, Mike Hensley of Superior IT, said:  "I take customers out every other Friday during the summer for a lunch and golf day.  For my business specifically it is not about selling anything but more about building the relationship and loyalty, and...
