Latest Members: January 2018

2018 has already brought in five new members!
But what can these members
do to help your business?

Right from the start we were impressed with La Galleria Event Venue! The beautiful space and delicious food is perfect for any event. Even if you don't have a wedding to plan in the near future, the space accommodates holiday parties, corporate events, showers, and everything in between. Their beautiful outdoor space can enhance a summer event.

We're also welcoming BYH Marketing to the Cheektowaga Chamber. Did you know that Facebook's algorithms are changing all the time? The way you used to post and engage on social media might not work anymore. Having a digital presence is key, and BYH Marketing can help. Founder Kavon Chatman has been working with us on improving our social media pages. He will be hosting a workshop for Cheektowaga Chamber Members on February 28th at 8:30 a.m.

Thanks to Busy Beaver Lawn and Garden for supporting our chamber this month! As snow and ice accumulate, they just get busier; the team at Busy Beaver Lawn and Garden are no strangers to hard work. If your business is in need of a plow service, this is the place to go. As spring rolls around they can help you with landscaping. You may have met office manager,
Lindsay, at our State of the Town Luncheon!

Our staff had a blast at Pocketeer Billiards and Bar! This is a great place to unwind after work with a drink (or two)! They have many billiards tables for customers to enjoy. My favorite part? They have over 60 (and growing) Pinball Tables for people to use. I played a Metallica Pinball game when I was there. Maybe you just have an old pool table that needs repairs, they can help with that too. This is a must-go stop in Cheektowaga

We're so excited to have Susan Harrington from Howard Hanna as a Cheektowaga Chamber Member! Susan is excited to start networking and meeting more people in the Cheektowaga area. From the moment you meet her, you can tell Susan is passionate and awesome at what she does. Make sure you say hello to her if you see her out and about networking, you won't be disappointed!

Keep an eye out for the Next Five New Chamber Members and what they can do for you!

Excelling at Chamber Networking Events

Networking can sometimes leave a bad taste in your mouth. Even the most extroverted of professionals have settings that they just aren't comfortable with. Walking up to someone and introducing yourself out of the blue can cause some unwanted stress. Here are some tips to help you kick butt and (literally) take names at Cheektowaga Chamber Networking Events. Check things out beforehand Sometimes knowing who you're going to see and what company they represent can help! A few days before the event, ask a staff member to send you a list of confirmed attendees. If a few stick out, you can even email them beforehand to tell them you're excited to meet them. This gives you a conversation starting point. Buddy System  Did you know all Cheektowaga Chamber events are open to all employees of a company? Bring a co-worker, or even a friend or spouse to help bridge any awkward introductions you might be worried about. You might get to know a co-worker on a differe...

Getting the most out of your Time on the Links

As the weather warms up, you might get an invitation or two to spend a day networking on the golf course! This may intimidate some, but it doesn't have to. It's not always about your skill level, but building relationships and making connections. Below are some tips and hints to get the most out of your day on the links and come out on top. 1. Networking on the golf course is about getting to know people, not selling your business or product. Instead, build relationships! Learn the stories about the businesses and how the people involved got to where they are. Chances are, you'll find something you have in common that you can use as a talking point later on to stick in their memory. Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce Chair Elect, Mike Hensley of Superior IT, said:  "I take customers out every other Friday during the summer for a lunch and golf day.  For my business specifically it is not about selling anything but more about building the relationship and loyalty, and...
